🌟 2026 Asian Heritage Month High School Symposium 🌟 2026 Asian Heritage Month High School Symposium – What a Day! 🌟 On May 28, 2026, high school students from Maples Collegiate, Sisler High, West Kildonan Collegiate Collège, and Garden City Collegiate gathered at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (@humanrights.ca) for a full day of learning, laughter, and inspiration at our Asian Heritage Month High School Symposium! 🙌 Huge thanks to our keynote speaker and workshop facilitator, Joanne Roberts @reporterjoanne —a Filipina-Canadian storyteller, filmmaker, and former journalist—for leading "Threads of Identity." Joanne helped students think about identity, culture, media, art, and storytelling through one central idea: A story can be true and still be incomplete. Students explored storytelling and who gets heard, what gets left out, and how identity can make stories more honest, specific, and whole. 🎤 Our career panel was packed with energy and insight! Thank you to: Jake Gumangan (@prestigexpwpg) – Entrepreneur of award-winning travel and events management company Vivienne Ho (@randformula) – President of CUPE Local 2348 (@cupe2348) Jackie Wild @jackiedwild , Owner of Tito Boy Restaurant (@titoboyrestaurant), President and Chair of Manitoba Filipino Business Council (@mfbcwpg), Mabuhay District MB (@mabuhaydistrict) Prabhnoor Singh (@myumsu) – UMSU President 💡 Students explored the topic of identity and speaking out against racism, reflected on how they and others are affected by these dynamics, engaged with Asian Canadian history, and participated in a powerful Q&A filled with personal testimonials and career advice from our panelists. 📣 Thank you to all the students, educators, panelists, volunteers, and museum staff who helped make this event a success!
